“All These Things That I’ve Done” by The Killers (2004)

I’ve warmed to “Mr. Brightside” after 13 years of exposure via radio and having heard a friend (or groups of friends) sing it every time I’ve found myself in a karaoke establishment since its release.

It’s still not as good as “All These Things That I’ve Done”.

The Killers are a little too theater-school dramatic for my taste. I keep coming back every time they release a new album, wondering if this will be the one that makes me a convert. Never happens–although I enjoyed Brandon Flowers’ solo album way more than I thought I would.

“I got soul but I’m not a soldier” is what turned my head the first time I heard “All These Things…” and it’s still the part of the song that gives me the best feels. What can I say? I don’t deny myself pleasures that others might find guilty…although I guess by writing this I’m admitting that liking this song was once a guilty pleasure? I dunno. Watch the video if you want.
